Terruños de México
EL OCCIDENTAL
El Occidental showcases the vibrant and varied flavors of Guerrero, Oaxaca, and Puebla, celebrating the depth and complexity of each region's contribution to this ancestral spirit.
A journey through the heart of western Mexico, capturing the essence of its diverse regions and agave species
Initiated in 2019, El Occidental pays homage to the origins of mezcal production in western Mexico, stemming from a cultural fusion between Filipino tribes and pre-Hispanic Indigenous people. Our mission is to acknowledge the technological diversity and traditions that emerged from this historical convergence. We focus on fostering the development of producers, envisioning a new origin for the commercialization of this agave spirit. Through three expressions from locations with artisanal production and rich mezcal history, we explore diverse flavor profiles, compare agave species, and delve into the unique terroirs. Serving as a conduit, our aim is to help master producers expand in volume and establish a meaningful presence in the mezcal sector.
